Florida State added a catcher for 2027 in junior college All-American Coy Clements on Saturday morning.
Clements hit 24 home runs, setting a Pearl River (Mississippi) Community College record, while hitting .392 with 71 RBI in 2026 as a redshirt freshman. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Clements also drew 54 walks as the Wildcats won the juco national title.
“It checked every box I was looking for in a program,” Clements told the Osceola. “The coaching staff was amazing and the development they were going to have on my game was the best you’re going to get.”
While Clements is draft-eligible in July, he shared a desire to play for FSU and improve his draft stock for next summer. With Nathan Cmeyla out of eligibility and Hunter Carns entering the transfer portal (as well as being draft-eligible), the Seminoles need to build catching depth.
“They are going to turn me into a high draft prospect and I’m looking forward to the future with this team,” Clements said. “I’m ready to go win a lot of games in this FSU uniform.”
Clements said he is pursuing a degree in sports coaching. He took a redshirt at Southern Miss in 2025 before moving to Pearl River.
FSU has also added Florida A&M transfer Jackson McKenzie, who led the Rattlers in most major hitting categories, as well as Big East pitcher of the year Cayden Suchy.
