The Florida State baseball team landed its first commitment from the transfer portal in Florida A&M's Jackson McKenzie.
A hitter and pitcher, McKenzie led the Rattlers with a .397 batting average. The SWAC first-team selection as a designated hitter also led the team in home runs (12), RBI (52), doubles (13) and had a .516 on-base percentage.
McKenzie was also 2-0 with three saves in 14 relief appearances. While he had a 7.55 ERA, opposing batters hit just .224 off him. McKenzie also showed good control with 27 strikeouts and 17 walks in 31 innings.
“Staying close to home and playing for the Seminoles is a dream come true!” McKenzie told the Osceola via text. “I want to play first base and help out the pitching staff on the mound as much as I can!”
Often FAMU's cleanup hitter in the lineup, McKenzie has also played first base and often was the designated hitter for the Rattlers in 2026.
FSU is rebuilding its roster ahead of the 2027 season, with draft-eligible players like Hunter Carns, Gabe Fraser and Chase Williams in the transfer portal. Younger prospects like Kelvyn Paulino Jr. and Noah Sheffield are also in the transfer portal.
