FSU landed a commitment on Monday from Texas running back Tre Wisner, who strengthens a room that’s loaded with young talent.
Wisner had 1,734 rushing yards in three years at Texas, including a 1,000-yard season in 2024. The 6-foot, 194-pound Wisner has been a productive pass-catcher with 66 receptions for 457 yards and two touchdowns the last two seasons.
“They allow you to play — play fast, play strong, play tough and smart,” Wisner said. “With the coaching staff that we have, the line, the team that we have, it’s going to be a great year.”
Wisner arrived at FSU with some strong relationships with the coaching staff. Tight ends coach Chris Thomsen had coached his uncle at Abilene Christian, and Wisner received his first offer from coach Mike Norvell and Thomsen back when he was a high school prospect at DeSoto, Texas.
The coaching staff’s history of using tailbacks helped FSU, too. Wisner said he enjoyed watching UCF tailback RJ Harvey, who played for offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and new FSU running backs coach Kam Martin. Harvey had 3,792 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns at UCF from 2020-24.
Wisner adds to a running back room that includes Samuel Singleton Jr., Ousmane Kromah, Zay Parks and 2026 signee Amari Thomas.
He is the second FSU commitment of the transfer portal period. South Alabama defensive back Nehemiah Chandler committed on Saturday.
