Florida State set a school record with 11 draft picks, tying for the most among NCAA teams, as seven Seminoles were selected on Monday.

FSU previously had 10 players drafted in 1995.

The day began early on Monday. And Drew Faurot didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called on the second day of the MLB Draft.

Florida State’s starting second baseman was drafted in the fourth round (No. 108 overall) by the Miami Marlins on Monday morning. Faurot, who was announced by the Marlins as a shortstop, was the third pick in the fourth round.

Faurot hit .307 with 16 home runs, 51 RBI and 51 runs scored. He had just four errors and a .981 fielding percentage.

The switch-hitting Faurot has a $708,300 slot value.

Right-hander Peyton Prescott was selected by the New York Mets in the fifth round (No. 163 overall). He went 5-0 with a 5.15 ERA and three saves, picking up 46 strikeouts (and 17 walks) in 36.2 innings. Prescott has a $415,000 slot value.
