Cooper Whited, Brodie Purcell and Cole Stokes combined on a seven-inning no-hitter as the Florida State baseball team defeated Bethune-Cookman 12-1 on Tuesday night.
Whited started and threw 3.1 innings and had six strikeouts. He gave up an earned run in the fourth, with Bethune starting the inning with a hit by pitch and a walk. After a strikeout, Whited hit another batter to load the bases.
Purcell then hit the next batter as Bethune was on the board. But Purcell pitched 1.2 innings, giving up a walk while recording a strikeout.
Stokes gave up a walk but also had two strikeouts.
Myles Bailey opened the game with an RBI double in the first and he added a three-run homer in the sixth. Bailey went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and is hitting .344 on the season.
Nathan Cmeyla went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Brayden Dowd, who hit leadoff, went 2 for 4 with three runs scored.
Eli Putnam scored three runs.
