Florida State has wrapped up the regular season with a 38-16 record and now has some time to rest up and prepare for the ACC Tournament. The Seminoles earned a double bye and don't play until Friday at 7 p.m.
We'll take a look at some of the top 25 rankings, RPI and field of 64 projections.
FSU is holding firm at No. 7 in the Division I RPI after a series win over Miami, the fifth ACC series victory at Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles have a No. 25 strength of schedule and went 8-10 vs. Quad 1 teams and 8-5 vs. Quad 2 teams.
With a 27-4 mark at Dick Howser Stadium compared to a 10-9 road record, the advantage to being home for regional play should be significant. The question next week for the NCAA Selection Committee is whether FSU is a top-8 national seed and should earn the chance to host a Super Regional should the Seminoles reach that round.
FSU maintained its No. 11 spot in the Baseball America rankings. The Seminoles also held firm at No. 11 in the D1baseball top 25. In the USA Today coaches’ poll, FSU remains the No. 8 team. And the Seminoles moved up one spot to No. 7 in Perfect Game’s rankings.
Baseball America also projected teams for the NCAA Tournament. The staff at Baseball America list seven ACC teams as locks: Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest. They think Virginia Tech should be in, while NC State and Pittsburgh have work to do.
The ACC Tournament begins on Tuesday with four games, starting with Duke and NC State at 9 a.m. All games will be broadcast by the ACC Network.
The NCAA Selection Committee, chaired by FSU athletics director Michael Alford, will choose the field next Monday.
