Wes Mendes’ consistent season from start to finish earned him ACC pitcher of the year honors on Monday afternoon.

Mendes was Florida State’s only first-team All-ACC selection. John Abraham, Trey Beard and Brayden Dowd earned third-team honors, while John Stuetzer was named to the all-freshman team.

Mendes went 9-3 with a 2.68 ERA, pitching a pair of complete games in his 14 starts. The junior left-hander pitched 84 innings with 109 strikeouts and allowing just 23 walks and 61 hits. He pitched six or more innings in seven of 10 starts against ACC teams this season.

By comparison, Mendes had a 5.42 ERA as a sophomore in 2025 in his 16 starts. Just two of his starts against ACC teams that spring went six or more innings.

Mendes is the first Seminole to win ACC pitcher of the year since Parker Messick in 2021.

Abraham had a sparkling 1.04 ERA and six saves, often pitching in long relief in his 17 appearances. The junior right-hander pitched 43.1 innings, allowing just 28 hits and 19 walks. He had a nine-inning complete game win over Pittsburgh, FSU’s first since May 2018, and also a seven-inning complete game at Wake Forest.

He enjoyed a dramatic improvement after recording a 4.72 ERA in 2024 and a 4.64 ERA in 2025.

Beard went 6-1 with a 4.78 ERA. The FAU transfer had 88 strikeouts and just 23 walks in 64 innings.

Dowd hit .307 with 10 home runs and led the Seminoles in doubles (12) and runs (50). The Southern Cal transfer also had 45 walks to just 31 strikeouts, showing a discerning eye at the plate that was also reinforced as he drew a bases-loaded walk in the 11th inning to defeat Miami in FSU’s comeback win on Thursday.

Stuetzer hit .277 with nine home runs, 10 doubles, 41 RBI and 49 runs. He also had 11 stolen bases in 16 attempts.

Georgia Tech coach James Ramsey was named the ACC’s coach of the year. Ramsey is an FSU alum who is in his first season as the Yellow Jackets’ coach.

FSU (38-16, 19-10 ACC) earned a double bye and will play its opening game of the ACC Tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. (ACC Network). The ACC Tournament begins with four games on Tuesday.
