Florida State coach Mike Norvell will hold a preseason press conference on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. The Osceola staff will post a few bullet-point updates below as Norvell talks.

Video from Norvell will be uploaded and posted to the Osceola’s YouTube channel after he speaks. We will also post video interviews with FSU assistant coaches later on Tuesday afternoon.

We will also write stories on Tuesday and in the coming days off interviews with FSU’s coaches. The Seminoles report on Tuesday and hold their first practice Wednesday afternoon.

Updates from Norvell:

FSU has already started meetings with players, who reported on Tuesday

Mike Norvell wants the players to come together and put their stamp on this 2025 football team. “There is one shot and there is one opportunity.”

Norvell says there will be 25 practices in the preseason.

Norvell says he got to see the edge in the Seminoles and establish an identity. "I've really liked the mindset of this team." He likes how they have challenged each other. "I'm excited to see that carry over into fall camp."

Norvell: I'm here to help these guys live out the dreams that they have. Norvell says it's not just football but in all areas.

Having the time to hold one-on-one meetings has been really good for Norvell as well as the players, who can discuss what's going on in their lives off the field and on the football field, too.

Norvell discusses the hire of Zach Arnett, who is a longtime defensive assistant and was a head coach at Mississippi State. Arnett and FSU defensive coordinator Tony White worked together previously. "Very excited about his role and the impact that he's going to have here."

Norvell says all of the talk in the preseason is essentially the same among all football teams. He wants FSU to have a "sense of desperation" that will help them "rise up and overcome." Norvell wants FSU "to live and be what they desire."

This is an interesting line: Norvell says he wants the Seminoles to eliminate all complacency and comfort. (I wonder if he's referencing a 2024 team issue, going back to the theme of leadership and accountability.)

Norvell says Ousmane Kromah is “one of those freshmen that I'm excited to see.” In his coaching career, Norvell doesn't think he's watched a prospect as much in person between Kromah's football and basketball career at Leesburg (Georgia) High.
