Tommy Castellanos has been named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top college football player.
Castellanos started 20 games at Boston College from 2023-24 and also appeared in five games at UCF in 2022.
He has thrown for 3,689 yards and 33 touchdowns while rushing for 1,427 yards and 15 touchdowns, including a 1,000-yard rushing season at BC in 2023. He was the first player in BC history with 2,000 or more passing yards and 1,000 or more rushing yards in a single season.
Castellanos was more of a pocket passer in 2024 under first-year coach Bill O’Brien. He lost his starting job in November and opted to enter the transfer portal, reuniting with Gus Malzahn former UCF coach at FSU.
FSU opens preseason camp on Wednesday. Mike Norvell and the assistant coaches will meet with the media on Tuesday.
Castellanos is one of 17 ACC players on the preseason Maxwell Award watch list.
