After a rough weekend on the road against Georgia Tech, Florida State returned home and lit up the scoreboard in the opener against Notre Dame.

John Stuetzer and Eli Putnam each had three-run homers as FSU routed Notre Dame 11-0 in seven innings on Friday night. Stuetzer’s home run was his fifth of 2026, while Putnam’s shot was his sixth.

Nathan Cmeyla had a two-run double in the first and an RBI single in the sixth for FSU (26-11, 10-6 ACC). Cmeyla went 3 for 4 as the designated hitter and batting cleanup.

Cal Fisher, Gabe Fraser and Chase Williams each had two hits. Hunter Carns and Brayden Dowd each scored two runs.

FSU had 13 hits, with four of them for extra bases.

“When you start to stack them (at-bats), that's the only way you're going to score in bunches,” FSU coach Link Jarrett said. “And it changes the complexion of the bullpen and what you're doing when you can separate and put the game away.“

Junior left-hander Wes Mendes (7-2) was on cruise control, giving up just three hits and two walks in six innings. Mendes tossed 102 pitches (65 strikes) and had seven strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 2.05.

The Seminoles were swept at Georgia Tech last weekend, but they're now a win away from their fifth ACC series win of 2026. FSU has also won series against Wake Forest, Virginia, Duke and NC State.

Parker Brzustewicz went 2 for 2 for Notre Dame (17-16, 7-12). Brandon Logan led off the seventh with a double off the right-field screen, but he was stranded on third by FSU reliever Brodie Purcell.

While Purcell gave up a double and a single, he recorded three straight outs — including the last two strikeouts swinging — to preserve the shutout.
