Coaches: Luke Loucks is 9-12 in his first season at FSU and seeking back-to-back ACC victories. Kyle Smith is 35-21 in year 2 at Stanford. Smith previously was the head coach at Columbia, San Francisco and Washington State and has a career record of 293-214 as a college coach.

Streaks: FSU has won two of its last three games. Stanford has dropped three straight, including a home loss to Duke 80-50. The Cardinal also lost at Miami 79-70 on Wednesday.

Notable wins / losses: FSU has defeated KenPom No. 38 Miami and No. 65 California in January, by far the biggest wins for the team in 2025-26. There have also been narrow losses to Duke, Wake and at SMU. Stanford has defeated No. 25 Saint Louis on Nov. 28, No. 19 Louisville 80-76 at home on Jan. 2 and No. 29 North Carolina 95-90 at home. The Cardinal’s best road win came at No. 56 Virginia Tech 69-68 on Jan. 7.

Of note: Members of the 1972 FSU team (national runner up), 1978 team (Metro Conference champions) and a large group from the Leonard Hamilton era will take part in a reunion this weekend in Tallahassee … KenPom projects FSU as the favorite, with a 53 percent chance of victory. … Stanford is viewed as a quality rebounding team that generates steals (7.9 per game).

FSU stats: The Seminoles’ bench has outscored its opponents in all eight ACC games. That includes a 20-5 edge at Miami and a 15-6 advantage vs. Cal. AJ Swinton had six points and four rebounds against the Bears. … Robert McCray is averaging 15.1 points in ACC games. Lajae Jones is averaging 9.9 points and 7.3 rebounds vs. ACC teams.

Stanford stats: The Cardinal shoot just 48.6 percent inside the arc, which ranks 282nd in Division I. … Guard Ebuka Okorie (6-2, 185) averages 21.5 points and 3.2 assists. Forward Chisom Okpara (6-8, 240) averages 13.9 points and 3.9 rebounds. Guard Benny Gealer (6-1, 185) averages 10.1 points and shoots 43.1 percent from 3-point range.

Quotable: “AJ has done an unbelievable job recently off the court which has led to his increasing minutes and production,” Loucks said of Swinton. “Now you see the seeds turning into a flower because now he’s handling his business off of the court and that has led to him getting minutes.”
