The Florida State men's basketball team seeks its first win away from Tallahassee when the Seminoles face UMass on Saturday at noon in the Orange Bowl Classic at Sunrise, Fla. FSU will wear its Seminole Heritage uniforms against UMass in a game that will be broadcast on the ACC Network.

FSU (5-4) has lost three straight games against high-major teams in Texas A&M, Georgia and Houston. UMass (7-3) is coming off a 76-74 win over Boston College on Wednesday.

Going into FSU's 10th game, the Seminoles have 96 steals (second only in the ACC to Wake's 97). FSU had a season-high 19 steals in the win over UT Martin.

FSU has been hot and cold from 3-point range this season. The Seminoles made 18 3s vs. Alabama State and 17 3s vs. Georgia Southern. But in their last four games, FSU has made eight, nine, eight and 10 3-pointers.

The Seminoles' 3-point shooting must improve in coach Luke Loucks' offense, which emphasizes a fast pace and spacing. The Seminoles are making just 31.5 percent of their 3-point shots, which is 244th in Division I.

It will be a tough matchup against UMass, which is holding opponents to just 26 percent shooting from 3-point range.

Martin Somerville leads FSU, making 21 of 49 (42.9 percent) of his shots from beyond the arc. Lajae Jones is second on the team at 20 of 58 (34.5 percent).

Loucks said power forward Alex Steen did not play against Houston due to a minor injury. Steen leads FSU in rebounding (7.1) and also averages 8.5 points.

The Seminoles are playing in the Orange Bowl Classic for an 11th straight season and are 10-4 overall in the event. That includes a win over Tulane in December 2024.

The Minutemen are coached by Frank Martin, a Miami native who has faced off against FSU often (including in a 2021 win when he was at South Carolina).

KenPom projects FSU will defeat UMass 83-75. FSU is 96th in KenPom's rankings, while UMass is 177th.
