From the players to coaches and support staff, the Florida State football team needed more space. That was a known years ago. With just 40,000 square feet inside the Moore Athletic Center, the project gradually moved from concept to artist rendering to fundraising and then groundbreaking in December 2022.
In October, the team moved into the 150,000-square foot Dunlap Football Facility. On Friday, the Osceola was among the local media outlets to take a guided tour of the building.
“The main goals of all of this was really about the player and their daily lives. We call it mind, body and soul,” FSU athletics director Michael Alford said. “We needed this facility five years ago, six years ago when I first got here. We went on a tour, visited some different universities, some NFL facilities, we really came back and said, ‘When we compare ourselves to what Florida State should be to what it is at the time, we got to do it.’ So we got the OK to start raising money for this facility.”

Then we go to the training room, therapy areas (hot and cold pools, underwater treadmill).
After, we tour the weight room, one of the team position rooms, the team meeting room and a walk through room.
“It is really, truly making a difference seeing how the players interact, how the coaches interact with the players,” Alford said.
Note that there is not a training table. Football players and athletes from all sports eat at the training table on the west side of Doak Campbell Stadium.
