The injury news for Florida State is mostly positive going into the team’s ACC opener on Friday at Virginia.
After missing two games due to a knee injury, tight end Randy Pittman is back on Florida State’s depth chart. Pittman was an effective downfield blocker for FSU in the 31-17 upset of Alabama. He suffered a knee injury in preseason camp and played through the injury in the win over the Crimson Tide.
FSU coach Mike Norvell had hinted that Pittman would be out a short amount of time. The UCF transfer missed FSU’s last two games, but he was seen on FSU’s sideline with his left knee wrapped but not in a brace.
Receiver Squirrel White is also on FSU’s depth chart in a starting receiver spot. White warmed up against Kent State but did not play.
“Barring a setback I feel very confident they'll both be available,” Norvell said. “We'll see how it plays out.”
Markeston Douglas, Amaree Williams and Landen Thomas are co-backups at tight end.
Norvell said quarterback Tommy Castellanos was able to practice on Monday. Castellanos said after Saturday’s game that his ankle was rolled up and that it was scary but he felt good.
“Today he was able to get some work,” Norvell said. “I feel confident about where that's going to be. Obviously we'll continue to see how the week plays out.”
True freshman tight end Chase Loftin suffered what appeared to be a lower leg injury in Saturday’s game against Kent State. Loftin “will be out for a period of time,” Norvell said. He said Loftin would likely miss “the next couple weeks.”
Another true freshman, nose tackle Kevin Wynn, is also back on the depth chart. He’s listed as a co-backup along with KJ Sampson. Wynn was one of FSU’s top signees in the class of 2025.
“He’s another guy that got some work today,” Norvell said. “I’m hopeful that we’ll have him available for Friday night. He was somebody that really established himself pre-injury as being right there in the mix in that rotation. And fully expect him to play when he’s capable and ready to play.”
Norvell will also be required to submit an injury report prior to the FSU-Virginia game as part of a new league rule for conference games.

ACC players of the week
Micahi Danzy was named the ACC’s rookie of the week after an impressive performance against Kent State where he had a 64-yard touchdown run, a 65-yard catch and a 47-yard reception. All of the yards came in the first quarter of FSU’s 66-10 win.
Danzy is averaging a stunning 33.2 yards per touch. He has four catches for 126 yards and five carries for 173 yards.
Two Cavaliers were also named players of the week (full weekly honors on theACC.com).
Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris had 399 yards of total offense (380 passing and 19 rushing) and accounted for five touchdowns (four passing and one rushing). It was his first college game with five touchdowns.
Cavaliers wide receiver Trell Harris had four catches for 145 yards, including three touchdowns. Both set career-highs. He's the first Virginia receiver since 2018 to have a three-touchdown game.
Offensive consistency
The Seminoles have scored on 26 of 32 drives (excluding kneel downs) in the first three games.
