Florida State backup cornerback Quindarrius Jones suffered a season-ending injury in Saturday’s loss to Miami, coach Mike Norvell said.

Jones had seven tackles and a pass breakup in five games.

“Q suffered an injury that is going to require surgery,” Norvell said.

Aside from starting corners Ja’Bril Rawls and Jerry Wilson, FSU has a deep group of younger backups like Charles Lester III, Cai Bates and Ricky Knight.

“It does shake up our defensive backfield,” Norvell said. “Now it’s an open door opportunity for somebody else.”

Shamar Arnoux is a co-starter at safety with Edwin Joseph. Arnoux was recruited as a corner but has been cross-training at safety.

Depth chart changes

Florida State made some notable changes to the depth chart ahead of the Pittsburgh game, including shifting Lawayne McCoy into a starting role ahead of Jayvan Boggs.

McCoy had three catches for 39 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown as well as two-point conversion reception in FSU’s 28-22 loss to Miami. Boggs had one catch for 14 yards.

There is no update yet on right tackle Micah Pettus.

Deante McCray is also listed as the starter at defensive end, ahead of Jayson Jenkins. McCray had four tackles against Miami.

Ashlynd Barker is still listed as the starter at the other safety spot, with Shyheim Brown or KJ Kirkland in co-backup roles. Barker was listed as questionable but did not play against Miami.

FSU (3-2, 0-2 ACC) will play host to Pittsburgh (3-2, 1-1) on Saturday at noon (ESPN).
