Florida State opened up spring football practice on Monday morning. Practice was closed to the media, but coach Mike Norvell provided a few updates.

Defensive linemen Jordan Sanders and Cam Brooks as well as quarterback Jaden O’Neal will miss the spring due to injuries.

He indicated Sanders would return in the summer. Brooks, who was seen with a boot on his foot, as a “more extensive” injury, Norvell said. He projected Brooks, a defensive end who was a late flip by FSU before he signed in December, will be back around midseason. O’Neal, who had offseason knee surgery before arriving at FSU in January, will miss the season, Norvell confirmed.

In response to a different question, Norvell said defensive backs Ja’Bril Rawls and Quindarrius Jones would be limited this spring. Both were injured in 2025, with Rawls suffering an arm injury at Clemson in November.

Micahi Danzy did some limited work with the receivers as he juggles time during the indoor track season. Danzy will compete at the NCAA Indoors this weekend. Jasen Lopez, another receiver, is traveling with FSU’s basketball team to Charlotte, N.C., for the ACC Tournament.

FSU will practice on Wednesday and again on Friday before pausing for spring break. A portion of the Friday practice will be open for media to take photos and videos.

When asked about leaders emerging in the offseason, Norvell first mentioned defensive linemen like Daniel Lyons, Deante McCray, Mandrell Desir and Darryll Desir. He then praised two transfer linebackers (Chris Jones and Mikai Gbayor) and a number of defensive backs, notably Ashlynd Barker. Norvell said Barker has been “vocal and active.”
