Ja'Bril Rawls will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to injury, coach Mike Norvell said on Monday.
Rawls was injured in the game at Clemson on Nov. 8 and missed FSU's matchup with Virginia Tech.
He is second on the team in tackles (40), has two tackles for loss, an interception and a fumble recovery. Rawls played in seven games, missing a few due to injury, but he has been one of FSU’s top run defenders in the secondary.
“He was having a really good season up to this point,” Norvell said. “A guy that we're excited about what's ahead. But unfortunately he'll be out.”
Shamar Arnoux started for FSU at corner and had three tackles in the 34-14 win over VT. The true freshman has 15 tackles and a pass breakup this season.
“His preparation, his work, the competitiveness that he has, I thought that showed up,” Norvell said. “Still some things that he's going to get to grow through with every rep, especially at that position as a true freshman. It's a lot on him. He's got the right mindset. I do think he's very capable. He's going to grow up right there in front of our eyes.”
FSU plays at NC State on Friday (8 p.m. on ESPN).
Norvell said it is too early in the week to know if offensive guard Richie Leonard IV will be available for the game. Leonard left Saturday’s game, with Jacob Rizy filling in.
“We'll see where Richie is throughout this week,” Norvell said. “He's going to have to push. Obviously losing that day makes it tough. I do believe regardless Rizzy is a guy that will be ready to go.”
Rizy played 54 snaps and graded at 84.7 percent as a pass blocker but 58.8 percent as a run blocker.
FSU coaches will release an availability report on Wednesday night, approximately 48 hours before kickoff.
