Florida State played its second baseball exhibition of the fall on Saturday, hosting UAB. The Seminoles scored seven runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Blazers 10-4 in the first game.

Below are some notes from game 1. We’ll update with notes from the second game, which will go five innings:

FSU hitting

Myles Bailey went 3 for 3 with a two-run homer, a pair of singles and a walk. The sophomore faced the shift and still made it on base in every plate appearance. Bailey’s home run was a no-doubter, high off the netting in front of the video board in left field.

Brayden Dowd went 2 for 4 with an RBI single in the third and an RBI single in the sixth. The Southern Cal transfer led off.

Eli Putnam went 2 for 4 with an RBI single.

Noah Sheffield had a two-run double down the left-field line in the sixth inning.

Brayden Dowd had an RBI single and then Myles Bailey hit a two-run homer off the net in front of the video board in the third inning

Hunter Carns went 2 for 2 with a run scored.

FSU pitching

Trey Beard worked a scoreless first inning, hitting 92 and 93 on the radar. He allowed a hit and a walk but got a pair of strikeouts, including an inning-ending one on a 77-mph change-up.

John Abraham pitched two hitless innings. The right-hander had three strikeouts and one walk.

A few relievers struggled. Cade O’Leary gave up two hits and a walk in the fourth inning. He hit 94 consistently but was wild and stranded the bases loaded. Brody Purcell gave up three walks and a hit in 2/3 of an inning. Payton Manca gave up two runs on three hits in 1.1 innings.

Manny Lantigua pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning with a strikeout.

The Seminoles pitchrs stranded nine runners.

Game 2 notes

FSU hitting

Freshman John Stuetzer went 3 for 3 with an RBI double and an RBI single as FSU defeated UAB 6-1 in a five-inning second game.

Putnam went 2 for 2 with an RBI single. He played third base in the second game.

Kelvyn Paulino Jr. went 2 for 2. He had a two-run single in FSU’s fourth inning (11th inning if combining the total innings.

Carter McCulley also had an RBI single. He played shortstop in the second game.

FSU pitching

Braxton Varnes started and pitched two innings. He issued a leadoff home run to Kevin Hall Jr., but then the freshman right-hander had a strikeout and gave up a walk.

Left-hander Kevin Mebill tossed two shutout innings, allowing just a hit. The junior had three strikeouts.

Freshman right-hander Rhett Vaughn had two strikeouts and allowed a hit.
