Florida State won its first road game of a busy, condensed week by knocking off Stetson 6-3 on Tuesday night in DeLand.

Noah Sheffield had a two-run homer and Chase Williams went 2 for 4 with an RBI single and a double.

FSU (22-6) juggled the lineup again, playing its second game without Myles Bailey. This lineup looked far different, with Brayden Dowd leading off followed by John Stuetzer, Hunter Carns and Kelvyn Paulino. Eli Putnam hit fifth and had three strikeouts.

Sheffield hit sixth and played right field and second base.

Williams hit seventh and gave FSU a left-handed bat toward the bottom of the lineup.

Carter McCulley played short and hit eighth, while Cal Fisher batted ninth and started at second base before shifting to third.

The Seminoles did strike out 12 times, the 13th game in 28 that they had 10 or more strikeouts.

Cooper Whited started and pitched four innings, scattering four hits and a walk, while allowing two earned runs. He had four strikeouts.

Brodie Purcell (2-0) then tossed two shutout innings of relief. He didn’t allow a hit, issued two walks and had four strikeouts.

Chris Knier gave up an unearned run in .2 innings. John Abraham had three strikeouts in 1.1 innings. Gabe Nard had two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth.
