Wes Mendes was sparkling for a second straight Friday. And Florida State's bats provided more than enough pop.

Mendes tossed 5.1 shutout innings, striking out seven while walking one, while Gabe Fraser and Jace Estes had three hits apiece as the Seminoles routed Michigan 6-1 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

FSU (4-0) pounded out 13 hits against seven Michigan pitchers. This was the first of three games for the Seminoles at the home of the Texas Rangers.

Estes went 3 for 4 with two RBI (FSU's first run in the second and the team's second run in the fourth). Fraser, who went 3 for 5, scored both of those runs.

Noah Sheffield added an RBI single later in the fourth, scoring Estes.

Brayden Dowd had a two-run double to left-center field in the sixth, scoring Estes and Chase Williams (who hustled from first). Dowd went 2 for 4.

Cal Fisher's sacrifice fly in the sixth tacked on a sixth run as Dowd scored.

Mendes (2-0) had seven strikeouts and allowed just one walk in 5.1 innings in what was a professional start on a big-league mound. The junior left-hander tossed 89 pitches (60 strikes).

John Abraham pitched 2.1 shutout innings, recording two strikeouts.

Colby Turner had a home run in the ninth for Michigan (3-2) off Cooper Whited. But between Mendes, Abraham, Whited and Gabe Nard, who got three outs in the ninth, FSU allowed just three hits and one walk.
