Florida State wrapped up an up-and-down non-conference schedule with a second straight dominating victory.

Martin Somerville scored a season-best 23 points, knocking down 5 of 10 3-pointers, as FSU jumped out to an early lead and routed Jacksonville University 87-63 on Monday. Somerville also made 8 of 8 shots from the free-throw line and added four rebounds.

It was the seventh game this season that FSU had 10 or more 3-pointers in a game. FSU made 11 of 33 3-point shots (33.3 percent).

It was a balanced night across the board for the Seminoles. Robert McCray had 10 assists, five points and five rebounds for FSU. Chauncey Wiggins had 16 points on 6 of 12 shooting, while Lajae Jones had 10 points and five rebounds.

Alex Steen had 11 points and nine rebounds and Thomas Bassong added 10 points (on 3 of 3 shooting) and eight rebounds for FSU, which won the rebounding edge 44-28.

The Seminoles led 43-21 at the half, played with a short rotation of eight players for the majority of the game and still was not in danger in the second half. FSU did not play AJ Swinton but substituted Shah Muhammad and Alier Maluk late in the game.

FSU shot 28 of 61 (45.9 percent) from the floor.

Chris Lockett scored 18 points for JU, but the Dolphins were just 5 of 30 from 3-point range.

FSU goes into the holiday break at 7-6, winning two straight after struggling through a five-game slide that included losses to Texas A&M, Georgia and Houston.

Somerville’s previous best was 26 points for UMass Lowell as a freshman in 2024-25. He was the America East rookie of the year.
