Logan Flaherty and his family plan to make the trip north from Port Charlotte up Interstate-75 and west to Tallahassee on I-10 quite often. Florida State's quarterback commitment in the 2027 class attended Sunday's elite camp, working out on the indoor practice field and inside Doak Campbell Stadium, and he will return for his official visit this weekend.

Flaherty was offered by coach Mike Norvell during his sophomore season and committed on May 19 ahead of his senior year. The relationships with Norvell and FSU's staff are just beginning. Did this visit feel any different now that he's committed?

"Honestly, I wouldn't say it was any different at all. And that's one thing that sticks out to me with Florida State," Flaherty said. "Coach Norvell has been real from the beginning and hasn't changed. And like I've been saying, he offered me my sophomore year. And the message he told me then is the same message he's telling me now, whether I'm committed or not. The people act the same, they're treating me the same. And that's one of the things that stuck out to me about Florida State and the culture that's built here."

Among Flaherty's early memories are wearing garnet and gold watching FSU football games.

"I remember being dressed up in full Florida State gear, watching games," Flaherty said. "I remember guys like Deondre Francois, quarterbacks like that, even in their rough years, watching games. As far as I can remember. I remember being around Florida State football, decked out, got Florida State signs, flags, shirts, jerseys. I've been a Florida State kid for a long time."

Flaherty has been on FSU's radar for some time. He committed first to UCF before backing off that pledge. As a junior, Flaherty completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 2,636 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a junior in 2025. (Hudl highlights here.)

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Flaherty is a three-star quarterback in the class of 2027. He may have been committed to UCF and was tempted by Rutgers' offer, but when Flaherty says FSU is his dream school it's because his memories are of the Seminoles.

"I'm fired up, I'm excited," Flaherty said. "Florida State's my dream school and there's been a lot of outside noise recently about Florida State, and I'm ready to kind of shut that down. Coach Norvell, they're going to handle business on the field this year, and me, personally, I want to (help) in the recruiting side of things, and build a class around me and get things back to where Florida State football needs to be. And I'm excited to take that quest and that mission."

Flaherty is continuing to connect with FSU's current commitments and he's actively recruiting prospects via text and social media. He will begin his official visit at FSU on Friday in an effort to learn more about campus as well as help coaches build the 2027 class, which currently includes seven players but only two on offense (Flaherty and tight end Connor Winn.

Among the players Flaherty mentioned that he’s actively helping FSU earn a commitment are four-star receiver Sean Green of Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County and four-star running back Jayden Miles of Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic.

"I want to build this class around me, continue to meet guys, and really network myself out there to kind of get know a little bit more,” Flaherty said. “And continue to build Florida State back up to where it needs to be, and build this class around me to get to get it rolling."
