The Florida State baseball team will wrap up the fall calendar with the Garnet & Gold All-Star Game on Friday at 6 p.m. at Dick Howser Stadium.
Coach Link Jarrett has allowed two assistants to draft the teams for the seven-inning game, which will be followed by a home run derby and fireworks show. FSU officials said there will be a live stream in the Seminoles Unconquered app, and you can look for full coverage later on Friday on theOsceola.com.
Jarrett discussed some broad topics about fall ball and the outlook for the 2027 team. Within his opening statement, he cited the depth of the pitching staff and the mix of right-handed and left-handed options.
“I like the overall depth that I see on the mound,” Jarrett said. “It might be the best overall pitching depth that I’ve seen.”
Pitching coach Micah Posey said early in fall ball that his goal was to have eight candidates to compete for starting pitching roles. The coaching staff has begun to have conversations about who might be slotted where, but won’t need to make determinations about the weekend rotation or midweek starter until January or early February.
Jarrett said Pittsburgh transfer AJ Nessler, an outfielder, is cleared to play but suffered a quadriceps injury in fall ball. Nessler will not play in Friday’s game. “Quite frankly one of our most complete players,” Jarrett said.
Alumni players like Cal Raleigh, Cam Smith, James Tibbs III, Jamie Arnold and CJ Van Eyk are among the Seminoles expected to return and hang out with current players in the dugout.
