Florida State’s deal with Link Jarrett pushes the baseball coach’s salary well past the $2 million mark and expands his assistant coach pool, according to documents released by the school on Friday.

Jarrett was set to earn $1.1 million in year four of his deal at FSU, but he will now earn $1.65 million. (Year 4 is viewed as summer 2025 through the 2026 baseball season). His salary escalates to $2.2 million by the 2030-31 season.

Year 1 (2022-23): $875,000

Year 2 (2023-24): $875,000

Year 3 (2024-25): $1.05 million

Year 4 (2025-26): $1.65 million

Year 5 (2026-27): $1.8 million

Year 6 (2027-28): $1.9 million

Year 7 (2028-29): $2 million

Year 8 (2029-30): $2.1 million

Year 9 (2030-31): $2.2 million

He will also receive a retention bonus every May through 2030, with $200,000 payable each spring. A final retention bonus of $200,000 is due on March 30, 2031.

Jarrett’s assistant coach/salary pool also jumps with the new deal, which was signed on Friday by the coach and athletics director Michael Alford.

He will have $450,000 for a salary pool in year 4, plus a one-time addition of $75,000 for year 3 (which wrapped up in 2024-25). In contract years five through nine, the FSU assistant pool jumps to $800,000.

“Since the final out of our season in June, I have met constantly with FSU leadership to discuss ways for us to continue to enhance our program,” Jarrett said in a statement that was released by FSU on Thursday. “Their dedication and support to FSU baseball and myself is second to none. I am humbled and proud to be the leader of Seminole Baseball. I’m thankful to our amazing fan base, President Richard McCullough, Michael Alford, Peter Collins and the Board of Trustees, and Stephen Ponder as we continue to develop elite student-athletes and compete for championships.”

The revised contract was announced by FSU on Thursday, a day after the San Francisco Giants hired Tennessee coach Tony Vitello.

Jarrett’s buyout is $1 million if he leaves within the 2025-26 contract year, and it declines to $600,000 by the end of the deal.

This is the second amendment to Jarrett’s contract. An original contract was signed in the summer of 2022 when he was hired, and a first amendment was signed in the summer of 2024.

FSU is wrapping up its fall baseball season, with an exhibition against UAB on Saturday at Dick Howser Stadium and an intrasquad game on Oct. 31.
