Florida State survived a dramatic, nail-biting finish to take a 2-1 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday in the ACC Tournament title game.

Jazzy Francik allowed just an unearned run on three hits and two walks as she pitched the majority of the game. Francik (22-2) was re-inserted into the game, issuing a walk with two outs in the sixth before getting a soft lineout to stranded the bases loaded.

The ACC pitcher of the year delivered a 1-2-3 seventh inning to wrap up the championship.

After Virginia Tech scored in the top of the first, the Seminoles responded in the second inning. Kennedy Harp had an RBI double to right-center field, with Bella Ruggiero scoring from first base. Harp advanced to third on the throw, and she soon scored on a passed ball.

A year ago, Harp missed all of the postseason with a knee injury. But on Saturday, she was the spark plug to the Seminoles’ win.

There were just seven hits in the game. FSU had three — Harp’s double, Anna Hinde’s double and Makenna Sturgis’ single. But Francik and Ashtyn Danley, who tossed one inning, helped FSU win the pitching duel.

FSU (49-8) won its 20th ACC softball title and the first since 2023. The Seminoles knocked off Georgia Tech, run-ruled Stanford and then edged the Hokies (46-10) to take the championship.

After Isa Torres fielded the final groundout and fired to first, the dugout erupted and FSU’s players celebrated on the field with the ACC championship trophy.

With the exception of being swept at Stanford a month ago, this has been a dominant ACC run by the Seminoles. They captured their 19th ACC regular-season title last weekend to earn the top seed in the conference tournament.

FSU will no doubt host a regional when the field of 64 is announced on Sunday night. The Seminoles are hoping this weekend delivers an RBI bump and gives them a top-8 national seed.
