Wake Forest (11-5, 2-1 ACC) at FSU (7-10, 0-4 ACC)

Time: Saturday at 6 p.m.

TV: ACC Network.

KenPom rankings: FSU is 112, Wake Forest is 60.

Coaches: Steve Forbes is 102-72 in six seasons at Wake. That included a 6-16 first year (during COVID in 2020-21) but since then he’s won 25, 19, 21 and 21 games. Luke Loucks is 7-10 and seeking his first ACC win as coach at his alma mater

Streaks: FSU has lost four straight ACC games. Wake has dropped four of five games, including losses to Miami (81-77) and at North Carolina (87-84).

Notable wins / losses: Wake’s best wins are over KenPom No. 55 Virginia Tech (81-78) on Jan. 3 and No. 66 West Virginia (75-66) on Dec. 6. The Demon Deacons have seven losses, but they have all come to KenPom top 60 teams: No. 1 Michigan, No. 23 Texas Tech, No. 11 Vanderbilt, No. 25 NC State, No. 29 Miami, No. 35 North Carolina and No. 57 Oklahoma. Aside from the UMass loss, all of FSU’s defeats have come to KenPom top 75 teams.

Of note: This is a matchup of the top two ACC teams in steals (Wake averages 9.5, FSU averages 9.1). The Seminoles have scored 86 or more points in 10 games this season. FSU’s problem: Opponents have scored 86 or more points in seven games. The defense must improve.

FSU stats: Robert McCray V averages 13.7 points and 6.6 assists. Kobe MaGee is averaging 14.8 points in FSU’s last four ACC games. Thomas Bassong scored 14 points against NC State (21 minutes) and seven points at Syracuse (27 minutes). Loucks is giving Bassong more minutes, even though they haven’t included significant rebound or assist totals, but he likes the freshman’s effort. FSU is up to 104th in the nation on 2-point shooting (53.9 percent) but the 3-point percentage is still low (32 percent, 253rd among Division I schools).

Wake stats: Juke Harris leads Wake (20.4 points, 6.4 rebounds). Myles Colvin (12.5 points) and Nate Calmese (10.8 points, 5.2 assists) are also productive players. Wake is very efficient on 2-point baskets, making 54.1 percent of its shots. The Deacons are about average nationally (169th) on 3-pointers, making 34.1 percent of their shots.
