The No. 10 Florida State softball team defeated Rutgers 2-0 and 5-1 to close out the Unconquered Invitational on Saturday.
The Seminoles (17-4) improved to 4-1 all-time against Rutgers (9-9).
Florida State totaled 15 hits, seven RBI and 10 walks across the doubleheader. Junior third baseman Jaysoni Beachum led the Seminoles at the plate in game one, going 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run scored.
Game two was highlighted by freshman Anna Hinde, who went 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run scored on a home run in the bottom of the fifth.
GAME ONE
Game one was a pitcher's duel as neither team was able to get much offense going. The Seminoles had their chances in the first and second innings but left the bases loaded each time.
Jazzy Francik got the start for Florida State and allowed just three hits over 6.1 innings and holding Rutgers scoreless. She recorded three strikeouts and issued two walks. The Scarlet Knights got to Francik in the seventh inning in a 0-0 ballgame and loaded the bases with one out. Makenna Reid stepped into the circle and forced a pop up in the infield for the second out. Reid worked a full count and got a strikeout looking to end the inning.
Marin Heller drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh, and Beachum hit a walk-off home run to left field to give the Noles the win.

GAME TWO
Freshman Bella Dimitrijević earned the win in Game 2, improving to 4-1 on the season. She faced 18 batters, allowing four hits while striking out six and issuing no walks. She finished with five scoreless innings.
The Scarlet Knights struck first on a bases-loaded walk to take a 1-0 lead. An Ashtyn Danley double advanced Beachum from first to third, and Hinde followed with a sacrifice fly to score Beachum and tie the game in the first inning. Kennedy Harp added a single to right field, scoring Danley and giving Florida State a 2-1 lead at the end of the first.
After several scoreless innings, Beachum singled to right-center field and a Danley double brought her home. Hinde later hit a two-run home run to left field, scoring Danley from second and extending the lead to 5-1.
Florida State will continue its homestand Wednesday against Jacksonville University at 4 p.m.
