Florida State landed its first softball transfer in Nicole Edmiaston, who was the Atlantic Sun player of the year.
Edmiaston hit .453 with 23 home runs and 70 RBI at Stetson as a junior in 2026. The first baseman helped the Hatters to the Atlantic Sun championship, and they defeated Florida State in the opening game of the Tallahassee Regional.
She had a hit in each of Stetson’s three games of the regional, scoring two runs. Edmiaston also had a home run in the Hatters’ final game of the regional, a loss to FSU.
A native of Freeburg, Illinois, Edmiaston said she and her family made five-hour drives to Chicago for her travel team’s practices on weekends.
"When I step in the box, I think to myself, I did the work, so why can't I be successful?" Edmiaston said in a story on Stetson’s athletics site in April. "If I wasn't prepared, that's when I'd stress, but I don't feel any pressure or stress in the box because I know we did everything in our power to make sure I'd be successful in that situation."
Edmiaston played two seasons at Florida Southwestern State College.
A year ago, FSU softball passed up adding transfers in favor of developing nine freshmen in 2026. But the Seminoles could use some added power in the lineup, and they think Edmiaston will do just that.
