The Florida State soccer team struggled in every which way, falling 3-1 at Florida on Sunday afternoon.
FSU didn’t defend well and couldn’t clear the ball from deep in the Seminoles’ end, allowing Florida to get frequent shots on goal. Kate Ockene made five saves — including a few from point-blank range — but had little support as the Gators led 1-0 at the half and 3-0 late in the game.
The Seminoles had won eight straight games in the rivalry.
Kyra Taylor scored for Florida (2-1-0) in the 22nd and 62 minutes. The Gators had 14 shots on goal.
Ryder Ajeto scored for FSU in the 83rd minute to avoid the shutout. The Seminoles (3-1-0) had eight shots on goal but largely were ineffective at building an attack and often lost 50-50 balls in the open field.
