The early morning was no problem for the No. 7 Florida State softball team (5-0) as they blanked UConn (0-4) 6-0 on Sunday morning.

With a 9 a.m. first pitch, Bella Dimitrijevic got the start for the Noles and was terrific. The freshman went three innings and allowed just one hit while striking out four. FSU's starting pitchers have thrown 20 innings, allowed 1 earned run on seven hits while striking out 25 batters compared to just five walks.

The offense wasted no time getting going as Isa Torres led off the game with a double. Marin Heller immediately followed Torres with a triple to give the Noles a 1-0 lead. Jaysoni Beachum doubled into shallow left field to make the score 2-0. Shelby McKenzie drew a walk, and Ashtyn Danley doubled into right field to give the Noles a 4-0 lead before the Huskies recorded an out.

The Noles got great production from its bullpen as Marlee Gaskell entered the game in fourth and threw two perfect innings while striking out three. Makenna Reid relieved Gaskell in the sixth and gave up a hit but that was all. Jazzy Francik came on in the seventh and struck out two out of the three batters she saw. As a staff, the pitchers allowed just two hits and struck out 10 batters.

Beachum picked up two more RBI in the sixth with a single through the left side to give the Noles more insurance.
