Florida State released its first depth chart just hours before kickoff of the season opener against New Mexico State.

There were about a half dozen “or” designators but overall few surprises. FSU also again listed two running backs, three receivers and a tight end on offense as well as four down linemen (including the JACK / edge), three linebackers and five in the secondary.

FSU will start six transfers on offense, with four of them on the line.

Ashton Daniels is the starter at quarterback, with Malachi Marshall and Kevin Sperry in an “or” designation as the backup. Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton are the tailback starters, with Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy and Jayvan Boggs as the starting receivers.

The offensive line, from left: Xavier Chaplin, Andre’ Otto, Bradyn Welch-Joiner, Nate Pabst and Chimdi Nwaiwu. Paul Bowling is a backup at left guard, with homegrown linemen Chastan Brown (LT), Chavez Thompson (C), Sean Poret (RG) and Jonathan Daniels (RT) filling out the second team.

The defensive line features DE Darryll Desir, DT Daniel Lyons, DT Mandrell Desir and jack Rylan Kennedy. FSU will rotate heavily, with Deamontae Diggs, Kevin Wynn/Jordan Sanders, Deante McCray and Jalen Anderson in the two-deep.

At linebacker, Chris Jones, Omar Graham Jr. and Caleb LaVallee-Blake Nichelson are the starters. Izayia Williams and Mikai Gbayor are the backups.

In the secondary, Ja’Bril Rawls and Quindarrius Jones will start at corner (with Charles Lester III and Nehemiah Chandler as the backups). CJ Richard and K.J. Kirkland are the co-starter at one safety spot, with Ma’Khi Jones and Ricky Knight III at the nickel / safety spot. Ashlynd Barker is the starting rover, with Jordan Crutchfield or Donny Hiebert as the third safety.

Gabe Panikowski is the starting kicker, Daniel Hughes is the starting punter and Jasen Lopez earned the punt return job.
