Quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz is moving on and is expected to be named the University of Buffalo’s offensive coordinator, according to a report by 247Sports.

Buffalo is coached by Pete Lembo, who was an assistant coach Memphis alongside Tokarz in 2019 with head coach Mike Norvell.

Tokarz has been at Florida State through Mike Norvell’s years, first as a senior offensive analyst in 2020 and ‘21 before becoming quarterbacks coach from 2022-25.

In his time at FSU, Tokarz worked closely with Jordan Travis. The quarterback threw for 3,214 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2022 and then 2,756 yards, 20 touchdowns and two interceptions in 2023.

But the last two years have been up and down with DJ Uiagalelei and Tommy Castellanos and the Seminoles have gone 7-17 in 2024 and ‘25.

At Memphis, Tokarz was a graduate assistant in 2017 and ‘18 before becoming the tight ends coach in 2019.

Tokarz is the latest coaching change at FSU this offseason. The school has announced Nick Williams as edges coach / pass rush specialist, with Kam Martin set to be announced as the running backs coach. FSU also has an opening for a cornerbacks coach after Patrick Surtain Sr.’s dismissal, and Brandon Harris opted to take a job at Florida over FSU.
