Florida State didn’t even need to play this weekend to rise in the coaches’ poll.
The Seminoles are up three spots to No. 9 in voting by the coaches, which was released on Sunday afternoon. Miami is the highest ranked ACC team at No. 6. Clemson dropped out after its second loss, while Georgia Tech is now ranked and landed at No. 19.
While Florida dropped out after its second loss, Alabama moved up four spots to No. 14.
FSU also moved up three spots to No. 7 in the Associated Press poll. Miami moved up to No. 4, while Alabama also jumped five spots to No. 14. Georgia Tech moved into the top 25, landing at No. 18.
FSU (2-0) will face Kent State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. (ACC Network). Kent State dropped to 1-2 after losing a home game to Buffalo 31-28 on Saturday.
After facing Virginia on Sept. 26 on the road, the Seminoles could be playing Miami in a top-10 showdown on Oct. 4.
