We’re just a week away from Florida State’s newest sport: women’s lacrosse.
The inaugural season for the Seminoles is on Saturday against Stetson at 1 p.m. at the new lacrosse-only stadium south of FSU’s campus on Pottsdamer Street. It is located near the Seminole Legacy Golf Club and Morcom Acquatics Center.
We’ll have more on the lacrosse program’s debut this week, but first some quick facts about the Seminoles:
FSU will play eight home games and nine ACC games. The season runs through April 16 (full schedule here). FSU and Clemson are the only programs to have a facility specifically for the women’s lacrosse program.
Sara Tisdale is 114-86 and has helped launch programs at Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. Tisdale has won three regular-season conference titles and was hired in July 2024.
FSU has also hired assistant coaches Rachel Clark, a member of team USA and the 2025 ACC attacker of the year, as well as MacKenzie Plaskey. Clark played at Boston College and Virginia. Plaskey previously was the head coach at Grand Valley State, and she worked with Tisdale at Central Michigan.
The 38-player roster consists of 24 transfers and 14 true freshmen. All 24 transfers arrive from Division I programs and have combined to play in 411 collegiate games and recorded more than 140 goals.
Summer Harrell, Lexi Smalline and Olivia Sprinkle were among the transfers who signed in January 2025 and practiced with the team for the last year.
