Florida State has landed its first transfer for 2026-27 after Shon Abaev made a weekend visit to Tallahassee.
The 6-foot-8, 210-pound Abaev committed to FSU on Monday afternoon according to multiple reports. Abaev is a Fort Lauderdale native and averaged 7 points and 2.9 rebounds as a freshman at Cincinnati. He had 13 points in 19 minutes at Arizona in January and 16 points at Xavier in December.
Abaev was a four-star forward by 247Sports and considered one of the nation’s top 100 prospects.
FSU’s coaches have been active in the transfer portal, scheduling visits that began with Abaev on Saturday. UNC Asheville guard Kameron Taylor has also visited FSU and is weighing his options.
The Seminoles also retained one of the key pieces from the 2025-26 team in forward Thomas Bassong.
