Strikeouts and struggles hitting with runners on base piled up for Florida State.

The Seminoles struck out 18 times and were just 3 of 14 with runners on base in a 6-3 loss at Florida on Tuesday night. FSU stranded eight runners, including a pair in the second, sixth and eighth innings

Florida snapped FSU's nine-game winning streak, although FSU grabbed the early lead.

Cal Fisher had a two-out single in the second inning, punching a single to right field that scored Hunter Carns and Brayden Dowd.

FSU right-hander John Abraham tossed two shutout innings, Florida broke through in the third inning against Kevin Mebil (1-1) and Chris Knier.

Ethan Surowiec had an RBI single, Cash Strayer had a two-run single and Jacob Kendall had a two-run single as Florida batted around.

Will Bavaro added an RBI single in the fourth as FSU cut the deficit to 5-3, but Brendan Lawson added a solo home run in the sixth.

Despite the loss, there were some good pitching outings for the Seminoles. Abraham battled early, giving up three walks and striking out two, but gave FSU two good innings.

Cade O'Leary tossed 2.1 shutout innings of relief for FSU, striking out two. He also had two walks and a wild pitch. Cole Stokes was wild in the eighth, walking two but also striking out two in a scoreless frame.
