Florida State announced its first signing in the transfer portal in guard Kam Taylor on Monday.
Taylor was an All-Big South selection as a sophomore last season. He entered the transfer portal and picked FSU on Wednesday.
"Kam is a tremendous athlete who is still just scratching the surface of his potential," FSU coach Luke Loucks said. "We believe his best basketball is ahead of him. What really separates him is his ability to create. He can make plays for himself and for others, and he has a natural feel for the game with the ball in his hands.
“His combination of elite athleticism and playmaking gives him a chance to impact the game in a big way, and we're excited to help him continue developing in our system."
The 6-foot-7, 185-pound Taylor led the Big South in scoring as a sophomore, averaging 18.9 points per game. The 6-foot-7, 180-pound Taylor also led the league in minutes (34.7) while making 52.9 percent of his 2-point baskets. He struggled from beyond the arc, making just 28.1 percent of 3-pointers.
In 32 games (30 starts), Taylor also averaged 5 rebounds and 3 assists. He is a Charlotte, N.C., native. In his first season, Taylor was named to the All-Big South Freshman Team after averaging 8.9 points and 4.2 rebounds as a sixth man.
FSU now has five transfers committed with Taylor (so far) the only signee. Tallahassee native Anthony Robinson II (from Missouri), Sebastian Rancik (from Colorado), forward Shon Abaev (from Cincinnati) and Amare Robinson (from Tallahassee State College) have also committed.
