Florida State misfired early from 3-point range, committed nine turnovers and saw Texas A&M grab 10 offensive boards in the first half.
The Seminoles have struggled in first halves this season, trailing this time by 28 points at the break. FSU battled back with an 11-0 run to cut the deficit to 19 midway through the second half before losing 95-59 on Friday afternoon.
Kobe MaGee scored a season-high 21 points on 7 of 15 shooting to lead FSU (5-2), which played the first of three games against high-major programs in nine days. A senior transfer from Drexel, MaGee made 4 of 10 shots from 3-point range. MaGee’s previous season best was 16 vs. Alabama State in FSU’s second game.
Martin Somerville added nine points, all on 3-pointers, and five rebounds.
Robert McCray had just two points on 1 of 10 shooting, but he contributed 11 assists. Lajae Jones had only three points on 1 of 8 shooting and had five rebounds.
Ruben Dominguez scored 21 points, making 7 of 12 3-pointers, for Texas A&M, which made 15 of 34 3-point attempts. Rashaun Agee had 17 points and 17 rebounds for the Aggies, who had 22 offensive rebounds.
Alex Steen had two points and seven rebounds, but Texas A&M won the rebounding battle 60-40.
The Seminoles had a sluggish start in which they shot 4 of 22 from 3-point range in the first half. They finished 9 of 39, with Somerville making 3 of 6.
FSU finished just 21 of 73 (28.8 percent) from the floor).
