Gabe Fertitta returns to Florida State in a new role, this time as Director of Football Strategy & Offensive Assistant Coach. The hire was first reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel and later confirmed by the Osceola.

Fertitta was the offensive coordinator at Nicholls State in 2025.

But Fertitta spent 2022-24 at FSU as an analyst, focusing much of his attention on the offensive linemen in practice. He also helped in recruiting high school and transfers to campus.

This is expected to be a new position and could blend a variety of on-field and off-field roles. FSU athletics director Michael Alford and general manager John Garrett had previously spoken about expanding the football program's front office staff.

In 2024, with Alex Atkins serving an NCAA-mandated three-game suspension, Fertitta stepped in and coached the Seminoles' line on game days.

He also won a pair of state titles at Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic in 2017 and 2020, and Fertitta previously coached at schools in Mississippi.
