The upset heard 'round the college football world caught the attention of coaches and writers around the nation: Florida State is back in the top 25.

FSU's 31-17 win over No. 10 Alabama vaulted the team back into the AP poll at No. 14 and into the coaches' poll at No. 19.

The polls were released on Tuesday afternoon following an extended weekend of football games. FSU had received some votes in the preseason polls.

The Seminoles are also ranked 10th in the Football Writers Association of America’s Super 16 poll.

It's the first time the Seminoles are in the rankings since dropping out after an 0-2 start in 2024.

FSU next faces FCS program East Texas A&M on Saturday at noon (ACC Network). The Seminoles have a bye week before playing Kent State on Sept. 20.

In the coaches’ poll, Miami moved up to No. 7 after the opening win over Notre Dame. Clemson fell to No. 8 following a loss to LSU. Notre Dame is 9th.

Florida is 15th, while Alabama slid to 20th.
