Parker Messick was the ACC’s pitcher of the year in 2021. And he was a consensus All-American in 2022.

Now, four years later, the Cleveland Guardians left-hander will be pitching in his first All-Star Game.

Messick is 7-5 with a 2.85 ERA, starting 17 games and delivered quality starts. He has pitched 101 innings, recording 106 strikeouts with 29 walks.

In his second year in the majors, Messick doesn’t have the most impressive win-loss season as a result of Cleveland’s struggles at the plate. But he has pitched five or more innings in every start this season.

The MLB All-Star Game will be held on July 14 in Philadelphia at 8 p.m. (FOX). Messick is among 26 first-time All-Stars.

Among his highlights this season:

Messick took a no-hitter into the ninth in an April start.

He had nine strikeouts and allowed just one earned run vs. Tampa Bay in April, and Messick also had nine strikeouts in a win over Baltimore.

Messick tossed six shutout innings at the LA Dodgers on March 30.

He has not allowed more than three walks in a start.
