Paul Bowling said he would take the week to make his commitment. But on Wednesday, the Troy offensive lineman was quick to decide.

Bowling, who started 12 games at center and guard as a true freshman at Troy, wrapped up his visit to FSU on Tuesday afternoon and committed to Florida State on Wednesday morning. The Powder Springs, Georgia, native made visits to FSU and Georgia Tech.

Before leaving FSU on Tuesday, Bowling was asked what was important to him in the decision.

“Development, coaching, where I can see myself fitting in,” Bowling said. “Just going with my gut and doing what makes sense.”

Bowling played 752 snaps at Troy and he has three years of eligibility remaining. Last fall, he graded at 68 percent by Pro Football Focus as a pass blocker but had better grades as the season progressed. And considering that Troy played Clemson, Memphis and James Madison, Bowling faced some good competition.

During his visit to FSU, Bowling said he “learned a lot about Coach (Herb) Hand, how he runs things, how he operates.”

Bowling isn’t sure if he will be a center or guard at FSU. But he brings versatility, as do FSU’s other two line signees, and Hand values the capability of linemen to play multiple spots. Bradyn Joiner played center at Purdue and guard at Auburn, while Nate Pabst played right tackle and right guard at Bowling Green.

FSU is far from done at offensive line. But with the trio of transfers, as well as redshirt freshman center Chavez Thompson and veteran Andre’ Otto, the Seminoles are building what could be viewed as a starting five — or at least are more than halfway to a dependable group of eight linemen for 2026.
