Florida State added a commitment from South Carolina transfer pitcher Alex Philpott on Monday afternoon.

A Tampa native, the junior right-hander made 16 appearances and had three saves for the Gamecocks in 2026. Philpott’s saves came against Texas and he had two vs. Missouri. He had 19 strikeouts in 27.2 innings. Philpott also pitched in long relief, throwing four innings against Mississippi State on April 19.

The 6-foot-6 Philpott throws a fastball in the 94-95 range as well as a slider and change-up.

He is a familiar face, having played at Florida for two seasons. Philpott had 44 strikeouts and 18 walks in 37 innings for the Gators. He also pitched in the College World Series for the Gators in 2024.

After pitching three college seasons, Philpott is draft-eligible on July 11-12.

FSU has been busy in the transfer portal, adding Indiana shortstop Cooper Malamazian, Georgia outfielder Ty Peeples, left-hander Cayden Suchy, right-hander Sebastian Lippman, junior-college catcher Coy Clements and first baseman Jackson McKenzie.
