Florida State added Northwestern transfer first baseman Nick Barron on Monday afternoon.

Barron started 51 games, 35 at first base and 16 as a designated hitter, as a freshman at Northwestern in 2026. He hit .295 with nine home runs, 15 doubles, 33 RBI and 35 runs scored.

“Gods plan. #gonoles,” Barron posted with an FSU logo on his Instagram.

Barron is from Acton, Mass., but he also played at Bradenton’s IMG Academy. He was viewed as the No. 16 first baseman as a senior by Perfect Game.

With Myles Bailey’s selection by the Chicago Cubs on Saturday in the third round, FSU was seeking added pop at the plate and a first baseman. The Seminoles now have Barron and Jackson McKenzie, and it’s likely when one is the first baseman that the other could be the designated hitter..

FSU has also added Indiana shortstop Cooper Malamazian, Georgia outfielder Ty Peeples and junior-college catcher Coy Clements.

The Seminoles have landed four right-handers in the last few weeks: Sebastian Lippman of Florida Gulf Coast, Alex Philpott of South Carolina, Isaiah Shayter of Penn State and Espinoza.

With FSU’s 2026 weekend starting rotation drafted over the weekend, UConn left-hander Caden Suchy is the front-runner to be the No. 1 starter. Suchy was the Big East pitcher of the year this spring.
