Florida State added a fifth offensive line transfer as Chimdia Nwaiwu of Stephen F. Austin committed to the team on Saturday afternoon.
Nwaiwu took his visit to FSU earlier in the day.
The 6-foot-5, 296-pound Nwaiwu played tackle at the FCS level in 2025, earning All-Southland first-team recognition. He is viewed as a good pass blocker. It’s not immediately clear if FSU projects him as a guard or tackle, although offensive line coach Herb Hand values versatility.
Nwaiwu has two years of eligibility remaining. He reported offers from FSU, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Northwestern, Houston and Arizona.
FSU has been active rebuilding the offensive line via the transfer portal, adding Auburn tackle Xavier Chaplin as well as Troy center-guard Paul Bowling, Purdue center-guard Bradyn Joiner and Bowling Green guard-tackle Nate Pabst.
FSU brings in JUCO linebacker
The Seminoles also added a junior-college linebacker on Saturday evening in Chris Thomas. A Northwest Mississippi Community College standout, Thomas had 37 tackles and two sacks in 2025 before a knee injury ended his season.
Thomas told 247Sports that he tore the ACL in his knee in November and had surgery in December.
“What stood out about FSU was that the coaching staff was some of the best people I’ve been around,” Thomas told the Osceola. “The scheme was the reason the school was right for me i can come in and be the natural playmaker I’ve always been.”
Jayvan Boggs reverses course, set to return to FSU
Freshman receiver Jayvan Boggs entered the transfer portal and reportedly visited other schools. But Boggs has changed his mind and will return to FSU.
Boggs had nine catches for 103 yards and a touchdown as a true freshman in 2025.
Kevin Wynn, Jake Weinberg intend to enter the transfer portal
True freshman defensive tackle Kevin Wynn announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, On3 announced on Saturday. Wynn was the top defensive signee of FSU’s 2025 class.
The Seminoles have lost a large group of freshmen after their first year on campus: Mandrell Desir, Darryll Desir, Jayvan Boggs, Shamar Arnoux and Wynn.
FSU kicker Jake Weinberg has also announced he is entering the transfer portal. Weinberg’s decision was announced by 247Sports and confirmed by the Osceola. In 2025, Weinberg made 12 of 19 field-goal attempts. FSU’s backup kicker, Brunno Reus, has also announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. The Seminoles added Australian punter Daniel Hughes last week (he’s replacing Mac Chiumento), but are now seeking a kicker.
