Earning it’s third commitment in as many days, Florida State continued the momentum it has gained on the recruiting trail.

The Seminoles landed a commitment from Greenville (SC.) High defensive lineman Franklin Whitley early on Tuesday morning. Whitley is a composite three-star prospect according to the 247sports composite and is considered to be the No. 555 ranked prospect in the 2026 class. He is also considered to be the No. 69 ranked defensive line prospect in the country.

Whitley saw his recruitment blow up over the summer, as the 6-foot-6 and 265 pound lineman was first offered by Georgia after switching to football from basketball. The three-star has since received offers from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Tennessee, South Carolina, Auburn and Florida.

Whitley chose Florida State over Clemson, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee primarily. Whitley took an official visit to Florida State on October 12th - the first OV in his recruitment - and took official visits to South Carolina and Alabama following that visit.

He announced his commitment to Florida State via a Hayes Fawcett post on ‘X’ early on Tuesday morning.

In 10 games played during his first ever season of football, he has totaled 31 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss and three sacks.

Whitley is a raw developmental take as a defensive lineman. He has long arms, a big frame and has shown an ability to bend early as he learns the sport.

With Whitley’s commitment, Florida State has 28 commitments in it’s 2026 recruiting class that continues to rank in the Top 15 classes nationally in both major recruiting services.
