As Florida State’s staff builds the 2026 roster, the subtractions are coming, too.
Amaree Williams announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on Monday morning, and a few hours later twins Mandrell Desir and Darryll Desir reportedly will do the same. The decision by the Desir twins was announced by On3.
Mandrell Desir had 30 tackles and 6.5 sacks, and he was named to On3’s and 247Sports’ freshman All-American teams. He played 339 snaps.
Darryll Desir had 23 tackles and a sack. He played 300 snaps.
Williams split time between tight end, filling in earlier in the year for tight end Randy Pittman, before settling back in at jack/defensive end. He had 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 124 snaps on defense.
The winter portal window opened on Friday and closes on Jan. 16. All three players could be using the portal as leverage to improve their deals with FSU. The Seminoles have been able to retain a number of key pieces on defense, including cornerback Ja’Bril Rawls and safety Ashlynd Barker. Earl Little Jr. also announced he would enter the NFL Draft before backing off those plans.
Linebacker Justin Cryer jumps in portal
One of FSU’s few experienced linebackers, Justin Cryer, is reportedly jumping in the transfer portal. Cryer had 43 tackles, five tackles for loss and a sack in 2025.
If Cryer follows through on his intention and departs FSU, it leaves the Seminoles with only a few veterans at linebacker. Blake Nichelson had 43 tackles and a sack last fall, while Omar Graham Jr. had 38 tackles. Graham Jr. has also wavered on his portal plans.
The Seminoles also brought in a large group of freshman linebackers in the 2026 class.
