Florida State struck first in its final road series of the ACC schedule.
Brody DeLamielleure had a home run and a pair of RBI singles as the Seminoles defeated Clemson 8-4 on Friday night. DeLamielleure now has six home runs this season.
Hunter Carns had a pair of RBI singles. John Stuetzer added a home run as FSU pounded out 11 hits.
Brayden Dowd scored three runs for the Seminoles (35-14, 16-9 ACC), who were swept in their last two ACC road series but now have a chance to strengthen their postseason resume in the final two weekends of the regular season. Dowd has now scored 47 runs this season.
Wes Mendes (9-3) pitched six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks. The junior left-hander had 10 strikeouts.
Mendes followed up a complete game win over Pittsburgh with his fourth straight outing where he pitched six or more innings. He tossed 101 pitches (65 strikes).
Chris Knier gave up a run in the seventh. John Abraham pitched 1.2 innings, leaving the game with two on base in the ninth with an injury.
Pitching coach Micah Posey quickly motioned to the bullpen for a right-hander to warm up, and FSU went to Brodie Purcell. After Purcell issued a walk to load the bases, Payton Manca got a long flyout for his first save.
Abraham was smiling and celebrating with teammates in the postgame celebration.
