Florida State dropped a sixth straight one-run game, falling at Clemson 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Brayden Dowd had a home run and Hunter Carns had an RBI single in the first inning, while Brody DeLamielleure added a home run in the third inning as FSU built a 3-0 lead after three innings. 

But FSU (35-15, 16-10 ACC) also stranded two runners in the first as Gabe Fraser flew out and Ben Barrett hit into a fielder’s choice.

FSU’s hitters struck out 12 times and didn’t walk. Leadoff hitter John Stuetzer went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts.

DeLamielleure continues to be red hot, going 2 for 4 with the home run and a double. He scored two runs and raised his average to .340.

Clemson reliever Danny Nelson (2-3) pitched four shutout innings, setting down 12 straight FSU hitters in the fifth through eighth innings. He had three strikeouts.

FSU starter Trey Beard pitched 5.1 innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits. The left-hander had four strikeouts, a walk, a wild pitch and hit two batters. 

Kevin Mebil (1-2) gave up the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the eighth.

FSU and Clemson (30-21, 9-17 ACC) will wrap up the series on Sunday at 3 p.m. (ESPN2).
