Buster Posey was named by the College Baseball Foundation as one of 16 players, plus five coaches, who are part of the 2026 class of the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
Posey is the headliner of the group, along with the likes of Arizona State's Barry Bonds, Mississippi State's Jeff Brantley and Florida A&M's Marquis Grissom. Longtime Georgia Tech coach Danny Hall is also being inducted.
In selecting Posey for induction, the foundation begins: "Buster Posey is widely regarded as a transformative talent whose extraordinary performance at Florida State University redefined excellence at the position."
Posey enjoyed an impressive start to his college career, beginning at shortstop as a freshman. He earned freshman All-America honors while starting all 65 games at shortstop. After transitioning to catcher as a sophomore, he quickly emerged as one of the nation’s elite players, earning First-Team All-America recognition and All-ACC honors in 2007, while finishing as a finalist for the prestigious Johnny Bench Award.
He enjoyed a historic 2008 season at FSU, his junior year. Posey led the nation in six major categories — batting average (.463), hits (119), RBI (93), total bases (226), on-base percentage (.566) and slugging percentage (.879) - while establishing an FSU season record for batting average. He captured the ACC Triple Crown, leading the league in batting average, home runs (26), and RBI, becoming just the fourth player in league history to achieve the feat.
The Seminoles infamously fumbled with an opening loss in the regional to Bucknell in 2008 before Posey and the team bounced back to make the program’s first appearance in Omaha in eight years.
He was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2008 draft by the San Francisco Giants, where he is president of baseball operations.
Posey and the class will be honored in February in Kansas.
